The Maldives and Sundaland – A brief and comparitive study
by Steve LeMaster
Do you recall the absurd claim that Alarmist – in – Chief, Al Gore made in regards to the Maldives? I searched the WWW for latest elevation details and even though they are at 0 meters elevation in the Indian Ocean and 2.4 meters at its maximum (as of December 2008), contrary to the Alarmist – in – Chief’s claim, the Maldives are not being inundated by sea rise.
Far be it from me to make an educated observation, but a wave 20 feet high is probably enough to do some considerable damage to any one of those atolls. But hey, yell fire in a theater and you’ll get people’s attention real quick.
In 21,300 BP there was a place called Sundaland, a region in Southeastern Asia that is comprised of the Malay Peninsula, Malay Archipeligo, Sumatra, Java and Borneo. Little do people know is that the current land mass was larger than it is today and some way out there people often refer to it as Atlantis (despite the fact that this legendary place never existed). During the course of thousands of millenia, Sundaland slowly started to disappear by rising sea levels and about 6,900 BP we see it as we do today.

So, for all of those people that are marching to the beat of the Alarmist – in – Chief’s drum, consider this:
From the period of 21,300 – 6,900 BP, the earth’s population wasn’t into heavy industry and certainly was not driving around in those bad ol’ SUV’s emitting that bad ol’ carbon dioxide.

Wouldn’t it just be cheaper to move the whole bunch to much higher ground and retrain them for something besides fishing???? Since fishing seems to be the only means of support. Or maybe a few coconuts.
The whole concept of rising (or falling) sea levels is apparently normal and natural. Since the middle of the US was at one time an inland sea. With much tropical climate and jungle flora and fauna.
We must adapt or we are doomed!
That does not include taxing CO2 as a pollutant!
The Maldives rely heavily on tourism.
Why not just test nuclear weapons on the Maldives, they’ll soon forget about the so called global warming.
LOL! Very true.
