Hi All,
OK so you write a post in the box that pops up when you reply to a post or start a new thread.
How do you upload a pdf at the same time.
Click on additional options at the bottom left of the page,
a series of options and boxes appears.
Below theses boxes / options there is also Attach: a box and then a browse button.
Using the browse window that opens, find and open the appropriate pdf.
I have just found out the pdf I want to attach is too large (500 kb),
the size limit is 128kb, so I'll add this (90.1kb) one instead.
:-X
Writing the post all you see of the attachment is : - X
when posted it looks as above.
The attachment appears at the bottom of the post,
but does not show up in "preview".
Now my next obvious question, how do I split up a 500kb pdf to post as four smaller pdfs.
Or does the size limit need to be bigger. ?
The excel sheets I intended posting are nearer 1.5Mb, but they needed tidying before posting anyway.
I'll try posting an excel sheet to see if the above process works for them as well.
Apparently the technique works, but,
.xls file types are not allowed.
128kb is a bit small as well.

I increased it to 600 kb.
Now you should be able to post the entire PDF
Men. Always worried about size. :

Thank you, that should make it easy to upload pdfs of a maximum of
very roughly (I'm guessing) about 25 pages.
Have you had time to look at the .xls files (ie excel) not being allowed yet. ?
This may seem "greedy" but could the allowed file sizes for
pdfs and excels be nearer 1.5 and 2 Mb respectively. ?
For example I'm thinking of the excellant pdf,
Minister Wongs Reply to Senator Fieldings
Three Questions on Climate Change Due Diligence

Bob Carter
David Evans
Stewart Franks
William Kininmonth
that is 1.34Mb for instance.
John I have a copy, I am just using an example of the size that some pdfs may reasonably be and
we might want to keep / upload for quick reference by the members here.
Our own library I suppose, there are hundreds of relevant pdfs that we have collected
that would be a fantastic resource for the forums members (and presumably guests).
I also have pdfs of all of Dr Miskolczi's papers as well.
Whether that is beyond the remit (or too big for the server) of the forum I do not know. ?
I understand, Derek.
On boards I've Admin-d, I could upload a file of any size, even though the regular membership could not upload files at all (I had the feature turned off).
Then, I would just privide the URL to the file I uploaded and it was available to all members.
True, this does increase the bandwidth of the site, but bandwidth is becoming less and less expensive, too.
