DW received a Kodak EasyShare P725 7" picture frame veiwer for a birthday present. Works a treat, makes your own pictures look much better than viewing on the computer screen even if they are smaller.

So I was entrusted with creating a slide show (boy, are we going to bore our guests ).

The on board memory can store 4,000 pictures!!! Can you imagine trying to step through 4,000 pictures to find the one you want to show???

So, having a spare USB flash drive to hand, (who hasn't? ) which can be used on the viewer, I set to and created a slide show that works fine on the computer, but when I loaded it on to the flash drive and looked at it through the viewer, the slides did not appear in order I wanted.

The viewer has three display modes, random, sequential and single step. It is the sequential mode I want. Looking at the slide show on the computer and the pictures display in the order of loading, fine, but on the viewer some of the pictures do not show up at all in sequential mode but will show in step mode! I'm baffled.

Reading the destruction manual and I am informed the sequential display is in date-order of the pictures. Looking at the pictures on my computer picture edit software I see each picture has a "Shot Time" indicator which does not always agree with the "Picture Taken Time" shown by Windows XP Home file folder veiws.

Does anyone know if it is possible to edit the embedded time on a digital photo?

When I initially open Windows Explorer, the Explorer Window fills the screen as you would expect. If from that window I open another window, perhaps a link to another website, the new window is sometimes long and narrow. perhaps occupying 25% of the screen. This started happening suddenly. I can't find any Explorer setting that would let me change this behavior so that the second window will also fill the screen on activation without having to hit the maximize button.

A few times the new window was an Adobe Acrobat file that turned off the maximize button. It made reading the file very tedious using the horizontal scroll bar and the zoom.

Any ideas on a fix? thanks in advance for a reply.

Advice needed please. I have nearly 2 gigabytes worth of duplicate files on my laptop. As my harddrive is only 20 gigs this is a large portion of my drive. Can I delete files in the following two folders?

C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$\

C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB911565$\

There are copies and duplicates in these two folders but I will leave them alone for now.

C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\

C:\WINDOWS\System32\

Most of the duplicates seem to be the result of updates.

A couple of weeks ago, I hit the start button on my PC and walked away to get a drink. When I came back, the PC was off. I was puzzled but just restarted it again with no problem.

Yesterday I booted up and spent about 5 minutes doing stuff when the PC just stopped. No warning at all, it just shut completely off. I tried to start it again but only got the start button to light up for about a second and it got no further. I went away for about an hour and tried again. It booted up fine for about 2 minutes and then shut off again. Again an attempted start only lasted for about a second.

Power supply? I have a 500 watt PSU in it. I did upgrade my video card about 2 or 3 months ago. The one I put in had to have the extra power cord to run. (I can never remember what I have in it when I am away from the PC...like now)

Tell me I am going to get off cheap here.

I've had suggestions to open it up and make sure the CPU fan is working also.

Been away for a while and perusing the tech forum threads.

Also keep forgetting to check the box to email when a reply is made.

Oh well.

Just to answer some questions:

A 32 bit (x86) OS can only address 3.25 GB of RAM. It may see 4GB, but, it can only address 3.25GB. A 64-bit OS can address 16 GB of RAM and is used if you are using high end rendering, such as Adobe Photoshop, 3D Max, Poser or some other engineering software that requires a lot of horse power.

If you require more than 2 GB to do normal day to day stuff, you have some underlying issues that need to be addressed.

If you are looking to have a home network that can be accessed remotely, get a Windows Home Server with a minimum of 2 TB of storage. These are incredibly simple to set up and are headless (no need of a monitor). Once it's on your network and you pop in the set up CD on another PC, you can set it up.

For high end graphics, use nVidia cards. Nothing short of a 9600 GT with at least 512 MBs of DDR3, or better yet get 200 series.

The new I7 processors are out, but I would wait for another 6 months before going that route.

My system is custom built:

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
nVidia 9800 GT w/512 MB DDR3 RAM graphics card
8 GB of 800 MHz DDR2 RAM
2 TB of storage.
MSI Neo II Broadwater motherboard 1066 MHz Front Side Bus, over clocked to 1333 MHz
Zalman CPU fan
800 watt power supply unit

Performance rating is 7.5 out of 7.9. Hard drive read/write access being the weakest link; wish I had a Raptor hard drive :-) That's 10,000 RPMs

Does just fine. Cost? About $800

Why do I need the horse power? Because I use Adobe Photoshop and Poser 3D.

Any questions, drop me a lin at steve@thelaymanscorner.com or stevelemaster@gmail.com

Is there a way to "host" internet links online in some way so you can access it from two different computers?

I'm compiling a lot of different links lately from two different PCs and it's getting ponderous with all the stories and such piling up over Climategate. I'll often find myself at home wanting links I saved at work or vise versa. It would be nice if I could save them to a place that I could access no matter where I am. I've been sending them to myself in emails but that is fraught with potential for mistakes.

I use Vodafone VMCLite. This involves plugging a dongle into a USB port and voila! instant networking. I am about to change my provider as Vodafone refuses to let me use Skype. We have family overseas and they keep asking us to get on board.

My question. I can't find any uninstall feature for Vodafone, just a folder in MyDocuments labeled VMCLite containing a few .dat files with headings like Inbox, Outbox etc. Tried looking at them with Notepad but could not see any readable text.

I am wondering if Vodafone did anything to the registry that I need to take care of before I plug in the new dongle.
