Slaying the Sky Dragon: Death of the Greenhouse Gas Theory - Questioning_Climate - 11-20-2010 02:19 PM

John O'Sullivan and others are in the final stages of a new book:

Slaying the Sky Dragon: Death of the Greenhouse Gas Theory

http://www.slayingtheskydragon.com/

http://www.slayingtheskydragondeathofthegreenhousegastheory.com/index.html

I believe the book is to be launched as an e-book first followed by a hard version.

I wasn't sure we could go "public" with this yet.

Anyhow, SST, maybe you should look at this page,
http://www.slayingtheskydragon.com/resources/other-blogs
It has a contact form on it for adding forums to the list.
I am a mite surprised here isn't on there anyway.
I know "we" have been in contact with at least 6 of the authors over the last year or so.

RE: Slaying the Sky Dragon: Death of the Greenhouse Gas Theory - Questioning_Climate - 11-20-2010 02:59 PM

Derek,

I don't think the authors had much or anything to do with the content on the website so far. The site was built by somebody else who may well not know of GWS.

SST,

It is worth asking them to be included, but they are very busy at the moment with the deadline looming and therefore may well not respond very quickly.

Angry:

I tried FOUR times to send the information.

FOUR times I filled the security code CORRECTLY.

FOUR times I get this irritating statement:

Wrong security code

Angry

I give up.

Derek,
Claes Johnson apparently let the cat out the bag some time ago:
måndagen den 16:e augusti 2010
http://claesjohnson.blogspot.com/2010/08/slaying-sky-dragon-of-greenhouse-effect.html

SST,
I'd suggest email John O'Sullivan at the address on the blog submissions page with all the details. However, do it next week because they are all tied up with the looming deadline.

That is what I used.

It is where I tried to make the submission.

They are apparently too busy to keep track of their website.

I sent the e-mail two days ago.No response so far.

SST,

I think they are working flat-out on the book at present. Don't hold your breath. I'm sure they'll respond as soon as possible.

SST, in the "other resources" page they say "Please, allow 1-2 weeks for inclusion". They seem really busy. The blog is almost empty and John O´Sullivan has a new Twitter account without tweets: http://twitter.com/CO2Slayer

I down loaded the Kindle for PC and the Sample book. Worked very well.
The sample book makes interesting reading. Seems to be written for the layman but takes you through some maths with worked examples.
(problem for me; how do you calculate fractional exponents? Undecided )

Anyway, now my curiosity is whetted I will have to get the e-book, can't wait for the paperback.

Richard111,
The program at the following link is freeware and allows you to type in maths almost in the way you would write it:
http://www.smathstudio.com/

Online version is available here:
http://smath.info/live/?lang=eng

Just try the maths you are unfamiliar with and you'll soon get to grips with it.

As I understand it at present
Slaying the Sky Dragon: Death of the Greenhouse Gas Theory
is now number one best seller at Amazon.

Q_C, thanks for that maths link. Will be very helpfull.

I've got the e-book and it was well worth the effort and the money just to read the following quote and get my mind all screwed up:

Quote:As for the famous minus 18C surface temperature that earth is supposed to have without the greenhouse effect, that figure assumes a blackbody surface absorbing about 239W/m^2 "on average." But check the Kiehl-Trenberth chart. Due to clouds and other obscuring factors, the actual surface average is given as only 168W/m^2. That figure corresponds to minus 40C on the surface, meaning that it has to rise by 55 degrees, not 33, in order to reach the accepted average of plus 15. Anyone who tells you, then, that the 'greenhouse effect' makes the earth's surface 33 degrees warmer is merely confessing his (or her) own ignorance.

Check; minus 40C equals 233.15K. Put that into the formulae
E = 1.0 * sigma * T^4 (for a 'blackbody', hah!)
where sigma equals 0.000000057 (5.7e-8)
and T equals 233.15
and you get 168W/m^2.

Here is a chart showing that 168W/m^2:

http://www.globalwarmingskeptics.info/forums/thread-609-post-6199.html#pid6199

If you use an average global absorbance/emissivity figure of 0.7 (i.e. a very poor 'greybody') you can get that -18C for the surface at 168W/m^2 so did Kiehl-Trenberth do something like that? Thats a very low figure, 0.7, more ususally around 0.9. This of course means that any 'greenhouse' effect must be that much stronger to push the temperature up by 33 degrees. Ah, well, more puzzles to figure out.

RE: Slaying the Sky Dragon: Death of the Greenhouse Gas Theory - Derek - 11-29-2010 01:25 PM

I just popped over to WUWT to see what "they" say about this book.

As far as I can tell, "they" say NOTHING about this book.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen, maybe their future ratings will emulate real climate dot org dot nonsense.

NB - No mention at Jo Nova's either, which I've had a stab at rectifying..

I guess there is a lot to read and take in. It took some while for most of the books to be sensibly reviewed so this will likely be the same.

The only sure thing is the criticism that will pour from the warmists and a few others no doubt.

Anthony Watts refers to Oliver K. Manual as a well mannered nutter!

Sad.

I am sure I remember that WUWT banned Oliver K Manuel.
Because "They" wouldn't discuss what he wanted to.
That was about the last straw for me in regards of WUWT.

Richard111 - Is this the light / dark "mother of all averages" problem of "black body" calculations Alan Siddons explains very early in the book, which results in a 68% error. ?
ie, Discs, hemispheres, average and max temps, and 35 K (surface heat retention / release) on the dark side of course.
