Thank you ajmplanner, excellent indeed. When explained by Fred singer, it seems quite plausible a shift from Kyoto to Montreal Protocol and the rebirth of the Ozone Hole hype. That would make happy Christiana Figueres and Evo Morales.

What about WW11 level of rationing for 20 years for all developed countries to allow the undeveloped countries to catch up?

Richard111, I´m not sure if you´ve seen the Telegraph´s article: the rationing proposal has just been made at Cancun:

Private transport to public transport, more clothes because your colder
(Incidentally omitting to explain why we would be colder - why we can not afford heating costs, or
why we can not afford a car any longer, or get to work on time reliably,
as public transport does not cover everywhere, 24/7 to travel to work),
in a supposedly warming world.....

MSM, politicians, have not picked up on this. ???
"We" have / will, this is going to get messy.

Why ration over a non existent problem?

For the European Socialists who have been at the forefront of AGW looniness, "global warming" has always been about re-distribution of wealth "to level the playoing field" ; and population control to save the planet from the evils of industrialization. Rationing is just another arrow in their re-distribution quiver. They were very clever to realize from the outset that AGW was a path to their utopian world view. They put the enormous AGW science and media machines in place to create the myth. In spite of the growing evidence against even the most basic assumptions of AGW, they press on undaunted as do their minions in science and media. Let's hope they are as unsuccessful in Cancun as they were in Copenhagen. I don't know if "three strikes and you're out" applies here, but two strikes would be a good start.

The bad news is the current cold spell will abate by December 23 and the winter will turn mild. This will apply to Europe and the USA. The cold will continue in East Europe and Asia but they don't matter. Walmers will go beserk!

With respect to Dr. Singer. It is a common mistake to think the ozone "hole" was discovered in 1985. That is when the press reports the discovery. The Antarctic ozone "hole" was discovered in 1956 by Dr. Gordon Dobson of Oxford University. The unit of measurement for ozone layer is called the Dobson Unit.

Dr. Singer´s analysis might be right. NIWA is beginning to hype the ozone hole. From Scoop News:

Antarctic ozone hole: smallest in five years

Quote:“We see a lot of year-to-year variation in ozone holes, caused by differences in atmospheric temperature and circulation. So we can’t definitively say the ozone hole is improving from one new year of observations. However, we have now had a few years in succession with less severe holes. That is an indication we may be beginning to see a recovery.”

“With continued monitoring, and by using the tools we have developed to calculate overall ozone hole severity and statistical analysis of their significance, we will soon be able to assess whether we are really seeing the start of a sustained, long-term recovery,” Dr Wood says.

In addition to the Antarctic measurements, NIWA scientists are using sophisticated models on NIWA’s new supercomputer to estimate when ozone will recover to the levels they were prior to widespread use of CFCs.
