Another industrial application for CO2 is welding operations. The shield gas creates an envelope to keep oxygen out of the weld which makes a bloody mess. Specifically CO2 is a popular shield gas for MIG welding. Straight CO2 or CO2/Argon (75-25) mix. The later is what I use everyday. Spray applications still use mostly CO2 up to 95 percent.
