Did you like that?

Well go HERE to see the other chart that is animated. It is GREAT!

It is our attitude toward free thought and free expression that will determine our fate. There must be no limit on the range of temperate discussion, no limits on thought. No subject must be taboo. No censor must preside at our assemblies.

BUT,

is John Cook correct?

Look further in the link and see more charts based on FOUR published science papers. That shows a very different picture than what Mr. Cook is trying to con you on.

RE: Charts II
Here are a few of my favorites...

The CO2 chart is from Kouwenberg, 2004. It a reconstruction of atmospheric CO2 from plant stomata. It clearly shows that pre-industrial CO2 levels routinely fluctuated from ~280 to 310-360ppmv. The post-800 AD data were also published in Kouwneberg et al., 2005. Dr. Kouwenberg attributed the 400-600 AD CO2 maximum to unspecified local environmental stresses because the high CO2 level could not be matched up with climate warming... She was relying on Mann & Jones, 2003 reconstruction. I used the temperature reconstructions from Moberg et al., 2005 and Ljungqvist 2010; neither of which was available at the time Dr. Kouwneberg published these CO2 reconstructions.

It appears that CO2 maxima and minima lag ~230 yr. behind temperature maxima and minima.

The next two charts use CO2 stomata reconstructions from Wagner et al. 2004 and Alley's GISP2 temperature reconstruction for Central Greenland...

Once again, we can see CO2 changes lagging about 230 yr behind temperature changes. Mcelwain et al., 2002 found that a “~77 ppm decrease in atmospheric CO2 at the onset of the Younger Dryas stadial… lagged climatic cooling by ~130 yr.” The stomata data clearly support a temperature-driven carbon cycle.

EXCERPT:

The #1 bar is this chart is that of a warming period that started around 10,000 years ago, lasting 840+ years with a temp increase of 1.23 degrees. The #2 bar represents the subsequent cooling period, which lasted some 850 years with temps cooling a huge 3 degrees.
