Cycle 23 is BACK!

It is our attitude toward free thought and free expression that will determine our fate. There must be no limit on the range of temperate discussion, no limits on thought. No subject must be taboo. No censor must preside at our assemblies.

Re: Cycle 23 is BACK!
Pop goes another NASA "prediction".

Has anyone kept count of how many times now NASA have got the "prediction" for
the end of Solar Cycle (SC) 23 completely WRONG so far.
I think it is about 5, but that is a hunch.
If memory serves me correctly they have also now reversed the
direction for their "prediction" of the strength of SC 24,
from it will be even bigger than SC 23 to somewhat smaller than SC 23.

Dam, nature you do not understand is a difficult thing to "predict"...........
Especially as SC 24 looks likely to be considerably smaller than SC 23..

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed
(and hence clamorous to be led to safety)
by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

H. L. Mencken.

The hobgoblins have to be imaginary so that
"they" can offer their solutions, not THE solutions.

This one has been revised an untold number of times. Here's the latest:

Re: Cycle 23 is BACK!
It is beginning to look like the peak will be less than 75 and possibly even as low as 50.Cycle 25 may not have hardly any sunspots at all.

Re: Cycle 23 is BACK!
According to that prediction, it should kick into gear any day now, just like the last ones. Shocker.

In my Agent 86 voice:

"Don't make a move. As I speak, 8 Cycle 24 sunspots are about to rise to the surface."

"I don't believe you."

"Would you believe, 2 spots?"

"Nope."

"How about a falling star?"

Would you believe that was venus?

LOL.

Timo Nimora thinks this might be part of a solar supercycle we are now enjoying.
