Re: Blasted human race...it's all your fault.
I saw that, too.
Would you remember vividly what the Ice Caps looked like from 12 years ago? In fact, he admits: Quote:"This is probably just a perception, but I just have the feeling that the glaciers are melting, the snow capping the mountains is less than it was 12 years ago when I saw it last time," I suspect that after hearing and reading the media claim "global warming", even when we've been cooling, his subconscious has been affected somewhat. I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant! |

Re: Blasted human race...it's all your fault.
The Canadian astronout Bob Thirsk said,
(although the article later spells his name Thrisk !!! ) "This is probably just a perception" Translation. "I must say this to help with future funding" ROFLMAO. The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary. H. L. Mencken. The hobgoblins have to be imaginary so that "they" can offer their solutions, not THE solutions. |

I suspect that if he saw the earth at a different time of the year before, it would appear to have shrunk seeing it again in July.

Re: Blasted human race...it's all your fault.
Thanks for bringing this to light.
At work, they are praising thirsk as some kind of hero. Until I read this article, I believed that he was some kind of hero, now that has all changed. How dare he make a statement like that ? I think the 'lack of oxygen' in space has affected this brain. Here is a link from my work website regarding robert thirsk : http://www.ucalgary.ca/alumni/robertthirsk |

Thirsk:
Quote:"This is probably just a perception, but I just have the feeling that the glaciers are melting, the snow capping the mountains is less than it was 12 years ago when I saw it last time," Thrisk was quoted as saying. "That saddens me a little bit." Just a PERCEPTION,he says, with his EYES no less. Very scientific Bobby! ;D It is our attitude toward free thought and free expression that will determine our fate. Re: Blasted human race...it's all your fault.
If I recall correctly he was up during the northern hemisphere winter last time and the summer this time. If that is the case then I wonder why it would be apparent that the seasons are different from space. I think there is a 7 million k sq difference in the Arctic ice extent alone and that is not concidering the difference in land ice cover between seasones. But HEY it is climate science!

Re: Blasted human race...it's all your fault.
Sea level MAY rise, or sea level has stopped rising..
Careful, you'll be accused of "cherry picking"..... ;D Or using the "wrong" timescale. Or using the wrong "observation". Or goodness forbid, using "big oil funded" research (what is that BTW ???). Will you please stop observing so, well, accuarately, it ain't big, and it ain't clever. The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.
