It is our attitude toward free thought and free expression that will determine our fate. There must be no limit on the range of temperate discussion, no limits on thought. No subject must be taboo. No censor must preside at our assemblies.

–William O. Douglas, U.S. Supreme Court Justice, 1952

I'm not seeing the last link, SST.

It doesn't appear to be an image file:

I know you think you understand what you thought I said,
but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant!

My factory manager actually gave me this cartoon as a cutting a couple of months back..........
The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed
(and hence clamorous to be led to safety)
by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

H. L. Mencken.

The hobgoblins have to be imaginary so that
"they" can offer their solutions, not THE solutions.

Hmm.... ,

are you sure that was not his way of asking you to be quiet?

;D

Oh yes, I knew what he was saying. It was more in relation to what he "has" to reply with.
The MD thinks Mauritius is going to drown soon due to AGW......

He who gave me the cartoon goes on about "the present orthodoxy" a lot....
And will quietly mention / talk about (to me at least) natural variation - he is a "quiet skeptic".
There's a lot of them about.
