Brilliant, and spot on.  8)
The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed
(and hence clamorous to be led to safety)
by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

H. L. Mencken.

The hobgoblins have to be imaginary so that
"they" can offer their solutions, not THE solutions.

Maybe a better wording would highlight that Al most prominently jumped on the AGW bandwagon,
really started by Keeling / Scripps. Revelle one of Al Gore's teachers,
was also somewhat enamered with the AGW idea at first.
Later Revelle came to the realisation it was not all it (AGW) was cracked up to be,
hence Al and co. jumped on him so hard. Mostly after his death.

Scum.

In all honesty the AGW idea would of died for a second time, regardless of Keeling / Scripps.
The second 1906 Arrhenius paper killed it the first time..
ie,

Svante Arrhenius, 1906, Die vermutliche Ursache der Klimaschwankungen,  Meddelanden från K. Vetenskapsakademien s Nobelinstitut, Vol 1 No 2, pages 1–10

It would of died through a lack of evidence / physics,
if it weren't for the second wave of demented power and money hungry ideologues and liars.
Commonly this second wave is rather quaintly referred to as "climate modellers", most notably,
James Hansen of NASA.
These modellers found support, fame and wealth from the UN and the IPCC, and
other shady political groups like the club of rome and their ilke.
A worse sort of scum it is difficult to imagine than climate modellers,
they know they are lying and yet deliberately hide it in plain sight,
behind (unverified) models no one fully understands,
intending to scare the public into exhorbitant taxes and controls upon how we live our lives.
From plastic bags, to ridiculous gas / petrol prices,
from saving kitchen food scraps to energy prices sky-rocketing,
these "people" know no limits.
If "we" swallow it, they'll tax and control us by it.
All based on a false (AGW) warming mechanism assumption that can not be observed.
ie,

William M. Gray 2009, “ Climate Change: Driven by the Ocean not Human Activity”  Prepared for the 2nd Annual Heartland Institute sponsored conference on Climate Change.  New York City, March 8-10, 2009   pdf available at:

So far, Al Gore is the outright winner in who individually has made the most (cash) out of the global warming scam.
Many governments are way ahead of him already though.......

The number of scientific, educational, bueaocratic, and poltical individual careers and ambitions
at present based upon, and supported by AGW "fears", beggars belief,
yet is the cause of the trouble we are all in now because of "it".
It being the damned lie that is AGW.

Who needs a soap box..................

Revelle was only attempting to promote funding of a dynasty. the reason or the goal of a search was only a siedeline. It appears that he was good at finding causes to research and his team was good at dredging up obscure research to follow even if it had been ignored in the past as it proved to be a good source of money. That is the reason that Brother Al received the Revelle award because he did a lot to promote additional funding. This is also why Hansen received an award from AMS when he is not a meteorologist. Chicken Littles promote fear which provides more funding.
