New normal for Sacramento weather: Wetter and colder
New normal for Sacramento weather: Wetter and colder
By Bill Lindelof blindelof@sacbee.com
U.S. rainfall and temperature normals are based on 30-year averages and are refigured every decade. The new normals are for 1981 to 2010, replacing the 30-year set of 1971 to 2000. Downtown Sacramento's average annual precipitation for the new three-decade period increased to 20.27 inches, up 0.40 inches from 19.87. The rainfall increase can be tied to elimination of figures from 1971-80, which included significant drought years, and retention of the 1980s and 1990s, which included several wet ones. ~snip~ http://www.sacbee.com/2011/08/04/3815652...ather.html “We do not believe any group of men adequate enough or wise enough to operate without scrutiny or without criticism. RE: New normal for Sacramento weather: Wetter and colder
Quote:16 of the past 17 months have been cooler than normal. December 2010 was the exception. Wow that is a long cooling trend. In my area.not a single day of 100 degrees has happened.Usually we get about 15 such days by now. Coolest summer on record is a possibility. It is our attitude toward free thought and free expression that will determine our fate. There must be no limit on the range of temperate discussion, no limits on thought. No subject must be taboo. No censor must preside at our assemblies. –William O. Douglas, U.S. Supreme Court Justice, 1952 |
