Damage from Consensus Science - Oliver K Manuel
OKM, writes as follows,

Dear friends,

1. Over fifty years ago President Dwight D. Eisenhower solemnly warned of the danger to our democracy if a "scientific-technological elite" ever took control of public policy [Farewell address (17 Jan 1961)]

2. Last week an editorial in Nature confirmed the danger of using consensus reports as scientific facts for government policy [Nature 5, 7 (5 Oct 2011)].

3. Today it was noted that forty years (1971-2001) of using consensus reports to guide government policy has severely damaged:

a.) The integrity of government science, and
b.) The fragile self-governance we inherited in 1776!

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed
(and hence clamorous to be led to safety)
by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

The hobgoblins have to be imaginary so that
"they" can offer their solutions, not THE solutions.

Is that the chap who was arrested for sex crimes this year??

"olivers work cant stand up to it at all. even an ameteur can tell you that while he pretends to be an expert in a field he has no training in. he wont listen to any critisisms and, the the last and worst part. while calling scientists liars and hiding evidence and trying to keep people in the dark he was molesting his children. I truly wish it were a joke but google"Oliver K. Manuel arrested."

Derek and myself along with JohnWho knows all about his past.I discussed it through the PM system.

I was the one who banned him from the forum. To prevent his personal participation here.

However I will allow Derek to make postings about what Mr. Manual writes about.

It is our attitude toward free thought and free expression that will determine our fate. There must be no limit on the range of temperate discussion, no limits on thought. No subject must be taboo. No censor must preside at our assemblies.

The crimes are unforgivable, of that there is no doubt, but,
the work still stands,
and that gives rise to issues that are best discussed.
