As an engineer who has worked with boilers, furnaces and heat exchangers, and designed and tested burners for various fuels (including liquid and solid wastes) I can support Dr Latour's comments. Flame temperatures result from combustion rate and the burner design. The temperature of the exhaust from a furnace depends on the fuel energy input to the furnace and the heat transfered inside. Insultating a furance to say reduce heat loss does not change the flame temperature but affects the exhaust temperature. Engineers have been making measurements of the heat transfer for more than 150 years. Heat transfer only occurs in one direction from high temperature to lower temperature. Those who claim to have measured "back radiation" clearly do not understand the instrumentation and what they are measuring. Thought bubbles (often the tool of those who want to confuse others) have no truth until they can be verified.

The late Dr Noor Van Andel, a chemical engineer, was one of the few persons who have been able to come to grips with the "Miskolczi theory" because of his experience with and understanding of heat and mass transfer (which is an important chemical engineering discipline based on empirical evidence)
