Examples of where and when politics HAS crushed science.

Hi All,
I just want to note Bab-i-lov (I will find the correct name later) the scientist / botanist that wanted to use genetics to feed a nation, but,
ended up starving to death on a cell floor in Stalin's Russia.
Marxist doctrine was anti genetics, so Stailn stopped the science, at any cost.

I am sure there are numerous other examples of politics crushing the science, particularly the natural sciences, some of which I hope others may post.
In the end there are almost too numerous examples to mention of THE politics crushing science.
MAYBE a few other examples will open people's eyes to the exact same thing happening in climate science at present.
The politics (IPCC + UN + most all national governments) crushing the actual observable SCIENCE.
