DAFT LAND
This struck a chord with me. See my sig. So I thought I'd share.
DAFT LAND We live in a country called Daft Land The Britain we knew is no more Where sensible people do ludicrous things Or risk breaking some Daft Land law. In Daft Land we've police dogs with muzzles Lest the villain has cause to complain And to steal from a shop and say 'sorry' Means your free with no stain to your name. You had better leave lights on in buildings When you lock up and go home at night 'Cause the burglars might hurt themselves entering And there's no way you'll be in the right. When speaking be wary in Daft Land As some terms that you've used all your life Now have connotations unintended And you'll end up in all sorts of strife. We elect polititions in Daft Land To give us the laws of the land Yet eight laws in ten now come from abroad The whole thing has got out of hand. The borders are open in Daft Land And of migrants there's no keeping track Just a few of the thousands illegally here Will ever be caught and sent back. The exception to this is the Gurkha hero Who fought for this land in the war He's old and he's sick, he might cost us a bit So he's not welcome here anymore. When the history is written of Daft Land Historians may just recall That the craziest people in Daft Land Were the public who put up with it all. By Pony Moore, Taunton, Somerset. as published in the Daily Mail, UK. CO2 comes from coal, coal comes from fossilised trees, fossilised trees come from living trees, living trees growth comes from CO2 therefore coal is carbon neutral. ...from here |

RE: DAFT LAND
" the craziest people in Daft Land
Were the public who put up with it all. " Sheeple, that constantly defer to a higher authority, without ever questioning whether the higher authority is abusing their trust. The reality is the higher authority relies on the sheeple being too lazy, and they are right the sheeple are mostly, most of the time.. Those that are not and who do check and raise their concerns are simply dismissed as conspiracy nutjobs, lunatics, etc, etc, etc. I do not mind the sheeple getting their just deserts (ie, taxed to death...), they have earned it by their laziness and complacency, but I will and do suffer too. We will all suffer from our being too damned lazy to protect our own liberty, rights and democracy. THAT is what so few seem to realise, it is all our own fault for putting up with it. Thank you for posting Richard111. The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary. H. L. Mencken. The hobgoblins have to be imaginary so that "they" can offer their solutions, not THE solutions. |

RE: DAFT LAND
Freedom is not free it must be fought for to keep it.
It is our attitude toward free thought and free expression that will determine our fate. There must be no limit on the range of temperate discussion, no limits on thought. No subject must be taboo. No censor must preside at our assemblies. –William O. Douglas, U.S. Supreme Court Justice, 1952 |
