Re: Here's where it all started - Cap and Trade
From the link:
Quote:Mr. Crocker sees two modern-day problems in using a cap-and-trade system to address the global greenhouse-gas issue. The first is that carbon emissions are a global problem with myriad sources. and, Quote:The other problem, Mr. Crocker says, is that quantifying the economic damage of climate change -- from floods to failing crops -- is fraught with uncertainty. He prefers this: Quote:He says he prefers an outright tax on emissions because it would be easier to enforce and provide needed flexibility to deal with the problem. It still does not stop CO2 emissions anyway. ??? It is our attitude toward free thought and free expression that will determine our fate. There must be no limit on the range of temperate discussion, no limits on thought. No subject must be taboo. No censor must preside at our assemblies. –William O. Douglas, U.S. Supreme Court Justice, 1952 |

Whether cap and trade or carbon tax the goal is not to reduce anything but individual rights and wealth. The Kyoto agreement has only caused hardship for those in the countries that signed the accord.

Re: Here's where it all started - Cap and Trade
The supporters think they are actually getting results. Just look at the Ozone Hole issue and the Montreal Protocol. The little people paid money to do nothing but line pockets. The acid rain was a similar issue. My power bill recently was raised by 25% due to EPA regulations but it is still lower than what I paid in so. NV.

Our country did sign kyoto (unfortunately), but we haven't really did anything towards it either, and that has caught the ire of the greenies. kyoto was a joke, and copenhagen will be a further joke. |
