I cannot understand statists, except that they seem driven by the urge to punish strangers, and see a strongman as the way to do it, not matter how they themselves may suffer. Climate is just another pretext, resembling the previous pseudo-sciences of race and class in that it is also all pervasive in scope, and so lends itself to totalitarian aspirations. My state attempted to ram through its participation in a cap-and-trade program on the basis that the science was settled, and I as an ordinary idiot citizen, had the gall to ask the governor how this decision was justified. Well, I could not find any answer that explained away the existence of skeptic climate scientists. The issue is a showcase on the most fundamental of concepts about backing up assertions on any topic under the sun when someone asks legit questions about them. When folks can't back up what they say, you have either incomplete / incompetent communication, or folks who have something to hide. It doesn't get more simple than that. |
