Take the Climate Change Quiz
It is our attitude toward free thought and free expression that will determine our fate. There must be no limit on the range of temperate discussion, no limits on thought. No subject must be taboo. No censor must preside at our assemblies. –William O. Douglas, U.S. Supreme Court Justice, 1952 |

I did, and I don't like questions 1 & 2.
I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant! |

I did, and I don't like questions 1 & 2.
I thought # 1 was deceptive, that was the only one I was wrong on according to them. But actually it was a correct answer but not as good as the other correct answer. Weird. I agree, and feel the same about question #2.

Re: Take the Climate Change Quiz
Question 10 is only correct in the wording Global and most accurate. The errors in satellite are a concern and we should be recording climate regions like the planting guides while also understanding micro site issues. The interesting thing is that planting guides are based on cold days as minimum temperature and number of days below certain levels determine what grows best. My mother taught me that cold and dry is worse than cold and wet or heat which can be controlled with shade and moisture.
I liked the quizz because it makes you think about what you know or think you know Also on 10> I did not look at the other answers but know that surface stations equal less or equal to anecdotal evidence that has been adjusted and weather balloons do not represent global coverage. |

Quote:The errors in satellite are a concern and we should be recording climate regions like the planting guides while also understanding micro site issues. I am not sure what errors you are referring to,but they have been correcting the drift errors and other errors for some time now. The Aqua satellite does not have drift problems of the older satellites, plus it is more accurate too. It is our attitude toward free thought and free expression that will determine our fate. Re: Take the Climate Change Quiz
The issue between UAH and RSS comes to mind with different results during different seasons and now there seems to be a possible issue with RFI in the microwave frequencies they use. I am confident the satellite people will get more reliablw with more research if the advocate groups remain out of the adjustment phase. There is still a question of steps in anomaly with change over where a bias might have been inserted into the data.
I really could not say but just repeat what I have read. |

SST:
See Roy Spencer's site for the latest regarding the satellites: http://www.drroyspencer.com/ This is the home page and he has been looking into the discrepancy related to July. |

There is still a question of steps in anomaly with change over where a bias might have been inserted into the data. I really could not say but just repeat what I have read.
RFI would influence the surface temp results of some satellites. But RSS and UAH are famous for their LT (lower troposphere) datasets, which are unrelated to those measurements. There ARE some very interesting differences between the satellite data sets. There seems to be a sudden jump upward in RSS relative to UAH around 1992, at a time of a satellite change over. When comparing UAH and RSS to radiosonde data, it becomes clear that RSS has an errant upward bias at that time. Otherwise they pretty much agree. The issue with the seasonal variability that results from merging AMSU data with the older MSUs is interesting, and John Christy, who I greatly trust on these issues, has said he is working on sorting it out. It does not appear to influence the trends, except for individual months: http://vortex.nsstc.uah.edu/data/msu/t2l....18Jul2009 |
