Sea Ice levels
Hello readers,
It is interesting to note that the Arctic sea ice levels are now obviously continuing the recovery, from a low set in year 2007.The latest measurement indicate that RIGHT NOW,it is going above the year 2005 level, for the date. Here is the chart that shows the trend lines of the past few years, showing the recovery from a low in 2007: ![]() The date for the chart is September 19. This is just another reason why we should not panic, since it is a recovery trend of 3 years in a row, despite the increase in the atmosphere of CO2.Next year it could be riding right on the 1979-2007 average, meaning there is no longer ANY below average level of sea ice coverage, when that happens another alleged sign of the warming apocalypse is gone. Come on alarmists, why are you still hanging on to the AGW delusion? It is our attitude toward free thought and free expression that will determine our fate. There must be no limit on the range of temperate discussion, no limits on thought. No subject must be taboo. No censor must preside at our assemblies. –William O. Re: Sea Ice levels
Not surprising and with typical ignorance of what is happening, this article by the AP ran yesterday and today in newspapers around the US (maybe international too?):
As ice melts, as court briefs fly, the white bear will hold center stage in climate drama I guess the fact that the ice isn't melting won't make any difference to these folks? I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant! |

Re: Sea Ice levels
Sea ice levels are volatile. The issue of the area/ extent of sea ice is not really an indication of climate change but usually an indication of a change in the Arctic Oscillation involving a change in wind direction which probably started many years before the minimum and with the recent change in ocean atmosphere circulation pattern we can expect increasing ice with less loss in the summer and fall. I noticed last winter there were days when there was a reduction in ice and the temperatures were below freezing due to wind compacting the ice and earlier this season there were increases due to shifting ice. Where one day it would decrease and the next it would appear to increase. If the current trend continues we should see a glacier advancing on Niagara Falls by 2050 and Ice Fairs between New York and New Jersey within the next 10 years
From your link: Quote:A U.S. Geological Survey study in 2007 concluded the projected decline in sea ice would mean the loss of two-thirds of the world's polar bear population by the mid-21st century. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service consequently declared the bear a "threatened" species in May 2008. That is the closest I got to actual sea ice data, yet they seem to think their projection is real data,to make long into the future claims of a vanishing bear population.A SINGLE POINT year is what they are using and already it is wrong! The chart I POSTED shows real data based chart and within 12 hours, from real time. This is what should be pointed out to people who are being LIED to,for the purpose of helping them in their fight, for their propery rights and their lives.
That chart should be published daily in the national press. Never happen of course. Note the values for ice extent every year during the first week of November. If the Arctic was warming there would be a spread here. Even 2007 minimum recovered through this point. Lot of wind in the Arctic during the past year. Piled up much ice on coastal areas. My guess is this will help insulate first year ice from land temperature rise during the coming summer melt. I bet on a higher minimum again next year. CO2 comes from coal, coal comes from fossilised trees, fossilised trees come from living trees, living trees growth comes from CO2 therefore coal is carbon neutral. ...from here |
