Ah! Of Course! Bang on. Should have spotted that.

CO2 comes from coal, coal comes from fossilised trees, fossilised trees come from living trees, living trees growth comes from CO2 therefore coal is carbon neutral. ...from here

The coldest spot in Antarctica is where the Geomagnetic South pole is.

Well, it is that time of the year again. Is the Arctic ice vanishing for ever or is it not. Rolleyes

WUWT has lots of interesting comments and pictures.

My interest is in what the winds do to the ice. I think the wind is the major player in the annual ice extent game. Some years the wind disperses the ice
and blows it to warmers waters to melt quickly, some years the wind compacts the ice so it hardly melts at all. Even though ice EXTENT is reduced,
ice VOLUME has NOT reduced by the same proportions. I think this year is one of those years.

Here is a picture of the Arctic ice. There are no mountains in the Arctic Ocean. Big Grin

Here is a helpful page about Main Arctic Currents

The chart in the link tells us about what winds does to the ice.

Taylor Dome: Ice Core Analysis

A very interesting read and an nice chart.

Quote:As almost every ice core on Earth shows, the Earth started cooling about 6,000 years ago. The last 4,000 have been much colder than any of the previous periods before that. CO2 continues to increase over the entire 10,000 year period, even though the temperature has continued to drop the entire time. This disconnect between CO2 levels and temperature is the norm. I have not found a single ice core that would indicate that CO2 is the cause of temperature change. If you are aware of one, feel free to let me know which one so I can look at it.

Ach, phooey! They've changed the down turn into splodges! Note the number of splodges on this years trace! LINK

I really think these wierd people BELIEVE they can adjust real world conditions to their desires by changing numbers on a graph. Maybe they should try sacrificing a few virgins.

Q_C has shown (Original: 16/3/2009) beyond any reasonable doubt,
How Fast is Arctic Sea Ice Declining?
"they" have been "adjusting real world conditions to their desires" for quite a while now.

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed
(and hence clamorous to be led to safety)
by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

H. L. Mencken.

The hobgoblins have to be imaginary so that
"they" can offer their solutions, not THE solutions.
