5th warmest year on record?
http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2009-1...633782.htm
Quote: LONDON, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- The British government's weather office on Friday predicted that 2010 will be the warmest year on record around the world because of the effects of global warming. I remember that projection of 2009 was made in Nov. I wonder if anything changed after December's numbers came in? It was awfully cold in Copenhagen. ![]() Anyway, keep that prediction for 2010 handy. Might be good for laughs later. |

RE: 5th warmest year on record?
5th warmest "global" temp or Britian's?
"On record", again, does not mean the same as "ever", does it? I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant! |

RE: 5th warmest year on record?
Friends:
The globe has been warming out of the Little Ice Age for about ~300 years. So, of course, recent years are warm relative to the 'record' that goes back to ~1880. Similarly, a person who walks over the top of a hill is high relative to his elevation when climbing the hill. More important is that the accelerated warming predicted by AGW-alarmists has not happened and is not happening. Therefore, we may, or may not, be about to start 'down the other side of the hill'. The Australian quotes my views on this today at http://tinyurl.com/ya8s6ne Richard |

Nope. ![]() "on record" is exactly the right phrase to pay attention to in my view since (1) our records don't go back very far and (2) our records aren't that accurate anyway. Poor George may be finding out what we have been pointing out for a long time.....there are many different agendas involved here and they don't appear to mix well. Some are actually honest and believe in what they say, but the dishonest are really aggressive. I think the warmers are already preparing for cooling and have every intention of claiming that as "proof of warming" should it come to pass. http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/20...matechange The "science" of this doesn't make sense to me. If the climate cools, won't that reverse the trend that caused the cooling? (according to this theory) |
