When did you become convinced global warming was an urgent issue?

I was very frightened after the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster, and I was committed to gaining a deeper understanding about environmental issues. At the time, global warming wasn’t on the country’s agenda. Outside of the work of some scientists and academics, global warming was a theory, not a mainstream issue. I spent months talking to experts who studied the effects of climate change, and I learned about the work of leading environmental organizations, including the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Union of Concerned Scientists and the Environmental Defense Fund, among others.

Chernobyl accident was never as bad as it was made out to be.The design of that reactor was of the cheap Soviet style,that made it possible for it to fail so easily.Maybe in her addled eco-nut brain,she equated the hot reactor to a hot climate?

She is so darned clueless on why so many of us bad mouth her for her conspicuous energy consumption.Somehow she fails to see the lack of credibility on her part,when she lectures us on how to reduce our carbon footprint.That from a woman who lives heavily on high energy consumption.

I despise such hypocrisy.

wow, talk about narrow minded.  I know for a fact that the environmental defence fund is a joke, period.  I've come across that name in my readings, and they are one of the biggest lieing groups around.

Perhaps streisand should talk to neo nazis too, seeing how those groups above are similiar to nazis anyways.  >

She goes to long running environmentalist groups,with a terrible track record of being reasonable about environmental issues.From them she gets a bucket load of eco-baloney and their bogus fears of a non existent run away warming,they got from the contrived IPCC reports.The cooling trend has been going on for around 8 years now and yet they change not one bit in their increasingly stupider AGW hysteria.

Ever since then she has been on a roll making a fool of herself,because she listens to people who have ulterior motives,that I doubt mesh with what she really thinks.Running with the wrong crowd can ruin anyone in the long run.
