EXCERPT:

In a new blow to the climate change lobby, Russia's top weatherman today announced that the winter now drawing to a close in Siberia may turn out to be the coldest on record.

'The winter of 2009-10 was one of the most severe in European part of Russia for more than 30 years, and in Siberia it was perhaps the record breaking coldest ever,' said Dr Alexander Frolov, head of state meteorological service Rosgidromet.

Statistics are still being analysed in detail, but it is known that in western Siberia the mean temperature was minus 23.2C, with more colder days than in previous years.

Some 63 days were colder than minus 25C and 39 days below minus 30C.

For this part of Siberia, this represents the coldest conditions in 40 years and the second harshest winter in 110 years.

Winter weather is slow to leave Russia and will continue for at least another week.

Don't gloat about this. It will shortly be explained how this is just more proof of global warming.

( I wonder how that melting Russian permafrost is doing. That was the most recent "proof").

Big Grin
I know your being sarcastic ajmplanner, even humerous, but
may I add that the permafrost melting does not seem to have effected global methane levels much, if at all.
It is still being broken down over the oceans more than we'd realised untill recently...

I look forward to the "explanation" by the way, it'll be fun,
but I don't given it any better chance than the second coming of the Hockey Stick, does anyone remember that one..
Oh how we laughed, and said it wouldn't last a fortnight, which it did not.
I think it barely managed three days from memory.
Big Grin

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed
(and hence clamorous to be led to safety)
by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

H. L. Mencken.

The hobgoblins have to be imaginary so that
"they" can offer their solutions, not THE solutions.

Quote:Don't gloat about this.

I can gloat that from day one,I never once swallowed the AGW hypothesis.

Quote:It will shortly be explained how this is just more proof of global warming.

Russia is the world largest nation by area and just experienced a dreadfully cold winter that is even beyond their usual experience they normally live through.

Therefore it is safe to say anyone who thinks that a few additional CO2 molecules added into the atmosphere, that are still very rare can do that much to promote such widespread continuous cold are insane.

AGW believers who publish such baloney are clearly insane, because for years until the more recent widespread cooling effects became undeniable, they were stating that there would be LESS cold and snow in most places.

There is no consistency in what they publish anymore since almost ANYTHING is caused by "global Warming",

Sneeze- global warming caused it.
Yawn- global warming caused it.
More Rain- global warming caused it.
Less Rain -gb caused it.
More Snow- gb caused it.
Less Snow- gb caused it.
Sleet- gb caused it.

and so on.

Numbers Watch has a slightly long list of such insanity at their website.

I think AGW believers and the media are dumb as rocks for doing it because they are making a mockery of their own earlier absurd claims.

It is our attitude toward free thought and free expression that will determine our fate. There must be no limit on the range of temperate discussion, no limits on thought. No subject must be taboo. No censor must preside at our assemblies.

Yup, the usual public reaction, well it is getting more usual.
AND "they" know it.

I am amazed that it took the public so long to finally start catching up on to the AGW corruption, the skeptics long knew about.

It took Climategate to do it.

But I still meet comatose individuals who are still in love with the AGW hypothesis (I doubt most of them do not even know what that is),because someone who is a drooling Environmentalist (Al $$$ Gore,James data fiddler Hansen,Keith one tree Briffa or even that worthless drip Phil I lost it all Jones believes in it.
