Match that to what is claimed now about what he meant. I have discussions with people claiming B was the proper scenerio or that the model used actual initial conditions rather than estimated conditions. I was not able to locate a statement from a person who claimed to assist in orchestrating the summer event because the one in November 1987 did not impress those present. Somewhere in the national archives there is a digital copy of this which I have seen but am not able to locate now.

It was stunts like this one that allowed GISS to maintain a contract with NASA because the original contract was for studying the atmosphere on other planets. The decision to cancel the exploration of other planets put an end to GISS having a contract with NASA but also reduced the funding from the government for NASA. With a new Enemy (CO2) GISS and NASA were needed to investigate. The Thing with Theon recently wnere he made claims about Hansen being a loose cannon even then. That was a CYA for his role in allowing Hansen to agitate for additional funding. The other who agitated for funding investigating a fabricated problem was Revelle who basically made the Scripps institute what it is today by hounding government agencies for funding.

Science became a business of creative grant seeking. Michael Mann became a pro at it!

Interesting. The IPCC was established in 1988. Coincidence, or what?

Neither the report nor the IPCC could have been put together in less than a year or so. The IPCC is a UN organisation and the Hansen report went to the US Senate. Makes you think!
