Global warming slows down... thanks to more pollution in our atmosphere

By Louise Gray, Daily Telegraph November 27, 2010
http://www.vancouversun.com/technology/G...story.html

Quote:Global warming since the 1970s has been 0.16 C per decade but the rise in the past decade was just 0.05 C. ...

Indeed, the true rate of warming caused by man-made greenhouse gases could be greater than ever. ...

Pope said the world should not be lulled into a false sense of security because the warming trend had slowed down. ...

In Britain especially, people are less worried about global warming because of a run of cold winters, including snow this weekend. But this is a short-term trend. ...

Pope said that in the long term the world, including Britain, was getting warmer. "If you look at the long-term trends we are in fact experiencing fewer freezing winters and more heat waves," she said. ...

Also more accurate readings of sea surface temperature, using buoys rather than ships, suggest that temperatures for the past decade are about 0.03 C higher than estimated. ...

The article is so funny that you must read it. Clearly the run of very mediocre summers and 'unusually' cold winters that Ms Pope was unable to predict correctly is a minor point and not worth a mention. Where did the heat-waves go? Why is there snow on the ground and record LOW temperatures across the UK in November?

Isn't it grand to know that the rate of Mann made global warming could be greater than ever and yet the rate of temperature increase has fallen and is statistically insignificant. What can we say about 0.03°C discrepancy?

It must be way past time for Ms Pope to put her head out the window and check the weather rather than looking at the virtual world of the Met Office computer. She certainly needs to get out more. Big Grin

It is our attitude toward free thought and free expression that will determine our fate. There must be no limit on the range of temperate discussion, no limits on thought. No subject must be taboo. No censor must preside at our assemblies.
